AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE Consulting

Strategic Value Partners provides management consulting services to five sectors in the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry: commercial and general aviation, military aircraft, space systems, ground defense, and shipbuilding. Strategy consulting and intensive change management for turnarounds, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and strategic alliances are at the core of our service offerings.

Simultaneously reducing costs and generating new revenue streams has never been more critical for A&D businesses, regardless of the airspace they operate in. Consider organic and inorganic opportunities to bring new products or services to market, capture new market/customer segments, or enter new geographies.

Commercial and General Aviation

The commercial and general aviation aircraft sector is composed of companies that design, manufacture and service commercial aircraft, business jets, helicopters, personal aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The segment also includes related components and systems such as engines, flight controls, avionics, parts, and raw materials. This segment is the largest segment in the A&D industry and is characterized by a vast supply chain.

Military Aircraft

The military aircraft sector is composed of companies that design, manufacture, and service combat and non-combat aircraft. The segment also includes related components and systems such as specialized avionics, radars, engines, guidance-and-control systems, and reconnaissance and surveillance systems.

Space Systems

The space systems sector is composed of companies that design, manufacture, operate, and service launch vehicles, satellites, spacecraft, and ground systems for the commercial and government markets. The segment’s importance to civilian innovation and national security is rapidly escalating.

Ground Defense

The ground defense sector is composed of companies that design, manufacture, and service tanks, tactical vehicles, transports, and related components and systems. The segment also includes the design, manufacture, and service of armaments, ordinance, small and light arms, and related supplies.

Shipbuilding

The shipbuilding sector is composed of a handful of companies that design, manufacture, and service military seagoing vessels such as submarines, destroyers, aircraft carriers, cruisers, cutters, transports, and amphibious assault ships.

CFIUS

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is a federal interagency committee. CFIUS is authorized to review certain transactions involving foreign investment in the US and to determine the effect of such transactions on the national security of the US. CFIUS possesses the authority to block, force revisions to, and even reverse transactions that fall within its broadening statutory and regulatory scope. Such transactions frequently occur in the aerospace and defense (A&D), automotive, healthcare, natural resource, and TMT industries and involve “dual-use” and military technologies, access to natural resources and related technologies, or vast quantities of personally identifiable information (e.g., databases maintained by money transfer, healthcare, and hotel management software companies)—and, the related “know-how.”
